Harvest Gift

Posted on March 17, 2026

While painting 90 paintings in 90 days on Molokai, I used subjects from daily life. A friend dropped off a few bags of passion fruit and they sat on the kitchen counter waiting to become lilikoi butter. My friend lived on a hillside and had a unique way of collecting the fruit. When passion fruit is ripe it naturally falls off the vines. They tumbled downhill and landed in a narrow drainage ditch, then washed into a laundry basket further downhill when it rained. Thank you Julie!

I paint from the photographs I take, and take artistic license with the subjects, some are truer to the original image and some are clearly brighter.
