
This distinguished black bear stares into the distance with a look of calm wisdom and possibly a growling stomach. There is a distinct glint of judgment, a look that demands respect, although there’s a good chance she’s merely plotting her next trash can raid. Painted on gesso board it’s a portrait of a black bear that visits my yard in the lovely Hudson Valley.
I called him Seymour, but he’s actually female, so now she’s Jane Seymour.
