Little Deep Woodstock

Woodstock Little Deep captures a sensory moment of immersion within the natural world, focusing on the intimate relationship between human presence and the tactile forces of an environment. Set against the cascading roar of a waterfall, two figures pause at the water’s edge, suspended in a moment of reflection. The viewer is invited into the Little Deep Woodstock

Hawaii’s Fantastic Fishponds

A contemporary painting of Molokai’s ancient fishponds (loko iʻa) masterfully bridges past and present, capturing the enduring spirit of Hawaiian aquaculture with modern artistic flair. Utilizing vibrant acrylics the sweeping coral and basalt stone walls draw graceful lines through the turquoise waters of the Pacific. The piece serves as a visual homage to cultural reclamation, Hawaii’s Fantastic Fishponds

Siloama, Church of the Healing Spring

The original painting is small, only 9×12″. It can be reproduced up to 14×18″. Any larger please consider commissioning a larger, original painting. Siloama Church was established in 1866 only months after the first people were forcibly relocated to the Kalaupapa peninsula on the island of Molokai. Exiled during Hawaii’s Hansen’s disease crisis (formerly called Siloama, Church of the Healing Spring

The Nerve of Puffer Fish

This sweet fish has several surprises to thwart predators. Inflating into a spikey ball stops most, that they have a nasty bite and they’re also highly poisonous.

Saturday Market

A fine tradition on Molokai. Tables line Ala Malama Ave with everything from produce to hand made goods and fine art every Saturday.

Ripe Yellow Coconuts

A different style, using some pen and ink toward the end for detail. It’s more graphic, and one of the few I did like it in my quest to paint coconuts in new ways. I love the subject, but hope to avoid being redundant.

Harvest Gift

While painting 90 paintings in 90 days on Molokai, I used subjects from daily life. I paint from the photographs I take, and while some take artistic license with the subjects, some are truer to the original image.

Chile Peppers on Wood

The Hawaiian artist, Kealoha Pa taught me how to paint on wood when we both lived on Molokai. He had studied and developed his technique for creating batik effects on wood in the Philippines.

Peaceable Bathroom

The idea that prey and predators could peacefully hang out in one small room is clearly a fantasy, although I do wish we could all give up eating each other and get along.
